Overview Camp Pinewood 2:
Camp Pinewood 2 is so good that I think it has ruined me for other games. Where else can you find such beautiful artwork, soulful writing, imaginative design, and fascinating mystery? I spent way longer on gameplay than most others do because I simply adored wandering around the solar system, admiring the sights, and discovering all its nooks and crannies. I laughed at the quips of my fellow Hearthians, and I cried (very literally) at the bittersweet hope & sadness of the Nomai I died in probably every way possible, which only fueled me to go back and try again. I watched the death of myself and everything around me from a hundred different vantage points, and it was beautiful every time. I searched for things I didn’t realize couldn’t be found, and instead found things I didn’t even know I was looking for. What a game. However, that small gripe pales in comparison with the vast positivity that I feel for this game on the whole. It was magnificent to experience, and I would highly recommend it. You won’t be the same afterwards. My only complaint is that a few of the puzzle solutions seemed arbitrary. For most of the puzzles, you could find hints around the solar system as to how they should be solved, even if you still had to put a lot of thinking into it. However, a couple of them (including one that was essential to finishing the game) had no hints nor even in-universe logic to explain them. Instead, they were based on blind luck and stumbling around trying things until something worked, at which point it wasn’t even clear why that thing worked. I found this a bit disappointing, given the breathtaking quality of the rest of the game and the satisfaction that solving most of the other puzzles brought.
